Hey friends 👋,
Last week I wrote about value — what actually counts before money ever enters the picture.
This week is about what comes next.
Because understanding value is one thing.
Living it when conditions aren’t ideal is another.
💻 CodeBreeze Corner — Built the Long Way
CodeBreeze Solutions exists because of a class I almost didn’t finish.
When I went back to school, it was still COVID chaos. Everything was online. Nothing felt stable.
I signed up for a PHP programming course before I was ready.
The instructor was overseas, the pace was fast, and I was completely lost.
So I did something that used to feel like failure to me.
I dropped the class.
Not because I quit — but because stepping back was better than pretending I understood something I didn’t.
I took a foundational course. I slowed down. I learned. I aced it.
Then I signed back up for PHP.
That class became the foundation of everything I build today — the moment I started thinking like a full-stack developer, not just someone learning code.
CodeBreeze wasn’t built fast.
It was built correctly.

New Haven, CT — still standing, still lit
🏙️ New Haven — When Community Shows Up
That same semester, the building I was living in here in New Haven caught fire.
It was arson.
No one was injured — but every resident was displaced.
(I later learned the fire was covered by local news here:
I was out of my place for a week.
It cost me money.
It disrupted everything.
The American Red Cross of New Haven stepped in and provided each displaced resident with a $500 gift card to help cover immediate needs.
That mattered.
Not just financially — but emotionally.
It was a reminder that community isn’t an idea.
It’s people showing up when life goes sideways.
I kept my shifts at BJ’s.
I stayed enrolled.
I finished both classes with A’s.
Not because things were easy — but because support and commitment met in the middle.
💰 Money — Stability Is a Strategy
That season reshaped how I think about money.
Real stability isn’t perfect timing.
It’s staying consistent when circumstances aren’t.
Sometimes that means:
🧱 keeping the job
📚 finishing the class
🧠 not making emotional decisions
🧭 choosing progress over pride
Scripture puts it plainly:
“A false balance is an abomination to the Lord,
but a just weight is His delight.” — Proverbs 11:1
A just weight is honest effort — even when the load feels heavy.
🪄 Magic — Practice Without Applause
Magic works the same way.
People only see the finished moment.
They don’t see the practice done under stress, fatigue, or uncertainty.
But that’s where the real work happens.
✝️ Faith — Staying the Course
Faith isn’t proven when everything lines up.
It’s proven when you stay.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
That verse carried me through more than school.
🔁 What Actually Counts
Dropping a class — and coming back stronger.
Finishing school during disruption.
Showing up to work anyway.
Receiving help — and being grateful for it.
That’s what actually counts.
What’s one thing you’re choosing to build the right way this week?
Thanks for reading.
Thanks for staying.
And thanks for choosing what matters — even when it’s uncomfortable.
See you next week 🙏
